One-page website design
Selling one thing, or simply needing to exist online properly, makes a single well-built page does the job. R2 950, live in about a week, with your own domain and hosting for the first year.
When one page is the right answer
A one-page site is genuinely the correct choice more often than the industry admits. It works when:
- You sell one service — a single trade, a single offering, no meaningful sub-categories.
- You need to exist and be verifiable — a real website for your Google Business Profile, your invoices, your business cards and your WhatsApp Business profile.
- You are testing an idea and do not yet know what the business will look like in six months.
- Almost all your traffic comes from Instagram, Facebook or WhatsApp and the site is a destination rather than a search channel.
When it is the wrong answer
Three or more distinct services will outgrow a single page, and you will end up paying twice. Search engines rank pages, not businesses — a page that tries to cover plumbing, geyser installation and drain clearing at once ranks properly for none of them, while three focused pages can each rank for their own thing.
The upgrade path exists and is not punitive: moving from a one-page site to the Starter or Business package later costs the difference plus R500. But if you already know you have several services worth explaining, start at small business website design instead and save yourself the step.
What goes on the page
In this order, because it is the order visitors read in:
- What you do and where — in the first line, not below a hero image.
- A way to contact you, visible without scrolling.
- The services or products, listed plainly.
- Proof you are real — years trading, qualifications, accreditations, area covered.
- Pricing or a price range if you can give one. Most competitors will not, and it is the most common reason people leave a site.
- An enquiry form and your full contact details.
Common questions
Is a one-page website bad for SEO?
Not inherently — it is a limit rather than a penalty. One page can rank well for one topic. It cannot rank for several distinct services at once, because each would need its own page. If you have one thing to sell, there is no SEO downside.
Can I add pages later?
Yes. Upgrading to a multi-page package costs the difference between the two plus R500 for the rework, and nothing is thrown away.
Do I still get my own domain?
Yes — your own .co.za or .com, registered in your name, with hosting for the first year. It is a real website, not a page on somebody else's platform.
