What a small business website should cost
Most South African small businesses do not need a R25 000 website. They need five to seven pages that load fast on a phone, say clearly what the business does, and make it obvious how to get hold of you.
The reason quotes vary so wildly in this market is billing model, not quality. Agencies bill hourly against a scope that grows during the project, which is why a brief that starts at R15 000 lands at R30 000. We quote a fixed price against a fixed page count, and if the scope genuinely changes we tell you the new number before doing the work rather than after.
The trade-off is real and worth stating: a fixed package is not the right answer if you need custom functionality, a booking engine tied into your systems, or a large content migration. For those we quote separately, and we will say so rather than squeezing your project into a package that does not fit it.

How much does a website cost in South Africa?
For a small business site, expect R2 950 to R7 950 from us on a fixed price. Across the wider South African market you will see two bands: budget builders and freelancers at roughly R1 500 to R6 500, and agencies at R15 000 to R40 000 for a comparable small-business brief. How long does it take?
About two weeks from the day we have your content, for a Starter or Business site. Pro sites run closer to three. The single thing that delays almost every project is waiting on text and photographs from the client — which is why copywriting is included from the Business package up. More detail in how long a website takes.
Do I own the website and the domain?
Yes, both, without qualification. The domain is registered in your name, not ours. If you decide to leave, we hand over the files and transfer the domain — there is no hostage arrangement and nothing to buy back. This is worth checking with any provider you are considering, because it is not universal.
What happens after the site is live?
Nothing is required of you. Hosting and the domain are covered for the first year. After that you can renew hosting on its own, take a care plan from R350 a month if you want us maintaining and updating it, or move the whole thing elsewhere.
Do you work outside the big cities?
Yes. Every build is done remotely, so a business in Mthatha or Upington pays the same and gets the same as one in Sandton. We have dedicated pages for the larger metros because that is where most enquiries come from, not because we only work there.
